TICK,TICK...BOOM Kicks Off Aux Dog Theatre, 2/8-3/3

Tick, Tick...Boom!chronicles the life of Jon, a struggling composer/lyricist who is rapidly approaching his 30th birthday while toiling away as a waiter at the Moondance Diner. His girlfirend, a dancer, wants to leave the city and move to Massachusetts and his best friend has abandoned acting for a high paying job in advertising. Jonny can't decide between love, money and staying true to his dream.

Larson's early musical influences include: Elton John, The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, Billy Joel, as well as classic composers of musical theatre, in particular, Stephen Sondheim. For instance, Jon's song at the diner, "Sunday", is based on the Act One finale of Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George.

Jonathan Larson, best known as the creator of the Tony Award winning, Rent, died tragically at the age of 36, just as he was finally achieving great success in the musical theatre world. Rentcontinues to be a box office blockbuster hit. It received universal critical acclaim moving from New York Theatre Workshop to Broadway in 1996.

The cast features three Albuquerque musical veterans: Adam Jason Cox, Brittany Reinholz, and Gilbert Sanchez. A side note about the actors who have appeared in Tick, Tick...Boom! over the years--- Albuquerque native, Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris, starred in the 2005 London premiere. The Aux Dog production is directed by Scott Schuster and musical directed by Jonathan Gallegos.
